The Story Behind
South Point Herb Farm
The farm is located in the South Point area of Big Island, the southern-most part of the United States. Rich volcanic soil, fresh ocean breezes, and lots of quality sunshine make this a perfect place for growing year-round. After our first amazing harvest from the garden we thought, “Let's expand and share with the neighbors!"
Since we first started growing in family gardens as children, we’ve been refining our skills and gathering knowledge about what makes the best tasting, smelling, and looking herbs and produce. Here at South Point Herb Farm, it starts with incredible, organic, microbe-rich living-soil mix. Excess plant material from pruning back the garden, Ka’u coffee grounds, and chicken manure from our lovely egg-laying-ladies creates our organic compost. We also receive rain almost every day, reducing our outside water needs. Sustainability and land improvement are fundamental to the farm’s operation.
We organically grow many varieties of delicious, unique produce and handcraft our own lye soap. Our lye soaps are handmade in small batches and include local, organic, and sustainably produced ingredients. Using local Waiohinu spring water, we create herbal infusions with our fresh-picked, farm-grown herbs. Rich oil blends and clays are used to produce the most luxurious experience.
Our family is dedicated to continual improvement and learning. Standards are kept high by testing homegrown and handmade items at home, with friends, and local customers. Our aim is to produce products that take care of us and the land they come from too. We love to cook the tastiest soups and sauces, bathe with herbal soaps, and excitedly watch our seeds turn into fruiting plants just as much as you!
Mahalo for joining us!
